Morale within WWE following Super SmackDown at Madison Square Garden is reportedly much improved.
The show from the ‘Worlds Most Famous Arena’ featured the return of Brock Lesnar, a SummerSlam rematch between Edge and Seth Rollins, as well as the return of ‘Demon’ Finn Balor to close the show.
It has now been reported by Fightful Select that the good feeling from the show extended backstage. Fightful reports that the mood from sources was “unanimously optimistic” which is a stark contrast to the mood following some TV events.
“One WWE source near creative said that they fully believe the company is capable of putting on these kinds of shows regularly, it’s just a matter of getting through to those of influence that this is the type of event that the audience wants to see regularly.”
It was also noted that both Vince McMahon and Stephanie McMahon were present at the show. While the Gorilla Position was reportedly busy both before and during the show.
However, it has come to light that a women’s tag team match was cut from the show due to time constraints.
The unadvertised women’s tag team bout that would have pitted Carmella and Zelina Vega against Liv Morgan and Toni Storm was reportedly cut while the show was taking place. Another segment involving Happy Corbin and Kevin Owens was also cut from the show in the afternoon.
Since the show, Liv Morgan and Carmella simply tweeted ellipsis while Zelina Vega shared the word “nevermind” on social media along with photos of what would have been her gear for the night.
The show marked the first time that WWE had returned to their spiritual home in just under two years. Ahead of SmackDown, the last WWE event to be held at ‘The Garden’ was their annual post-Christmas house show in December 2019.
