Backstage Details On Awkward Thunder Rosa AEW Dynamite Segment; What Discussions Took Place?

Thunder Rosa AEW entrance

A new report gives insight into a confusing segment featuring Thunder Rosa on AEW Dynamite.

On the February 19th episode of AEW Dynamite, Megan Bayne defeated Kris Statlander after interference from ally Penelope Ford. After the match, Bayne and Ford began a 2 on 1 attack on Statlander, leading Thunder Rosa to come make the save with a chair.

The segment did not seem to go as planned, with Ford and Bayne simply staring at Rosa, who held off hitting them with the chair she’d brought to the ring. After an awkward tug of war with the chair, Rosa backed down and left, causing critics to wonder why she was made to look foolish.

Bryan Alvarez reported that many AEW talent are frustrated with Tony Khan’s refusal to hold production meetings ahead of television, pointing out that those meetings could help avoid situations like the one on Dynamite.

Now, Fightful Select sheds more light on the situation, reporting that Bayne and Ford did not “go into business for themselves” despite online speculation as such. Instead, the segment can be boiled down to miscommunication from a coach or producer who did not instruct the talent properly on where to place themselves in the ring.

In addition, Fightful Select notes that the issues were discussed backstage after the segment, and that none of the talent involved has any problem working with one another.

When Did Thunder Rosa Last Challenge For The AEW Women’s Championship?

At Worlds End on December 28th, Thunder Rosa faced off against Mariah May for the AEW Women’s Championship. In the end, Rosa came up short. May went on to lose the AEW Women’s Championship to Toni Storm at Grand Slam Australia on February 15th.
