Austin Theory wants to face Roman Reigns following a victory over John Cena at WrestleMania.
The United States Champion joins a very small number of Superstars who have the accolade of defeating Cena on The Grandest Stage, with the other stars in that group being The Miz, The Rock, The Undertaker, The Fiend and Randy Orton.
Not wanting to settle with a victory over the 16-time World Champion, Theory looks to aim even higher by wanting to be the one who dethrones The Tribal Chief.
Speaking with the Babyfaces Podcast, Theory was asked what it was like to face the Hollywood star in Tinseltown, and if he has any future dream opponents:
“That whole moment was a full circle moment because anyone who knows my past knows that John Cena was always that motivation and inspiration to become a WWE superstar. To finally have that moment in the ring with him, me being on one end and him being on the other, and leading to that match. There is no better place than getting to do that in front of my entire family in Los Angles, in the ring with John Cena, that was a really cool moment. Looking on, because you always have to move forward and look past that, for me, my next one, Roman Reigns. We have to get ready for Tribal Theory,”
Austin Theory’s Next US Title Defence
Austin Theory will next put the US Championship on the line against Santos Escobar on the first episode of SmackDown after SummerSlam. The champion didn’t defend the title at the PLE, instead being a part of the Battle Royal presented by Slim Jim, which was won by LA Knight.
While holding the Money in the Bank briefcase, Theory did attempt to cash in the contract on multiple occasions. However, these were prevented by The Bloodline, Brock Lesnar and Tyson Fury.
Also on this podcast, Austin Theory shared what John Cena had said to him following their match at WrestleMania 39.
