Austin Theory walked out of NXT last night after losing in short and humiliating fashion to the colossal Bronson Reed – twice.
For several weeks now, the former EVOLVE Champion has been on a losing streak that Curt Hawkins would have been proud of, falling to the likes of Kushida, Adam Cole, Dexter Lumis and three times to Reed.
In fact, the last time Theory had his hand raised in victory was on the October 7 edition of NXT when he overcame Leon Ruff.
Gradually becoming more and more frustrated with his failures, Austin fell in short order to Bronson before taking the microphone and refusing to leave the ring until he’d beaten the man mountain.
All did not go to plan and it took Bronson Reed just under a minute to inflict a second loss on the night to the exasperated talent with a Samoan drop.
After the bell rang, an upset Theory stormed from the WWE Capitol Wrestling Center, quit NXT and drove away in his car into the night.
Of course, Theory’s exit from the black and gold brand is fictional and he will return at some point in the not too distant future with a storyline planned for him alongside Johnny Gargano. However, a break from television will do him good as he’s competed eight times on television since the beginning of September.
As for Bronson Reed, he will challenge the winner of the NXT North American Championship Match at NXT Halloween Havoc, which sees Damian Priest defend against Johnny Gargano. The stipulation for that will be decided by the return of Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal next week.
Reed declared himself number one contender following his thrashing of Austin Theory.
