At just 25 years of age, Austin Theory has an impressive list of accomplishments in WWE. Formerly a member of The Way in NXT, he made his way to the main roster in October of 2021 and quickly found a role as Vince McMahon’s protégé after it was revealed that he’d stolen the then-WWE Chairman’s precious Cleopatra’s Egg. Vince McMahon would continue to teach him lessons in the coming months, but he also gave him opportunities, such as a WWE Championship match against Big E and also a place in the men’s Royal Rumble.
Austin Theory‘s star continued to rise as he defeated Finn Balor in April to become the United States Champion. After a number of successful title defenses, he lost the championship to Bobby Lashley at Money in the Bank on July 2nd, but his night took a turn for the fortunate when Vince McMahon declared him as a surprise entrant into the men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, which he went on to win.
Austin Theory Made A Surprise Return To WWE NXT To Tease A Money In The Bank Cash-In
Theory has attempted to cash in his contract on multiple occasions. In the main event of Clash at the Castle, he ran down to the ring in Cardiff with every intention of interfering in the bout between Drew McIntyre, but he was punched by Tyson Fury for his trouble.
After somewhat fading into the background on WWE Raw in recent weeks following confrontations with Johnny Gargano, it looks like Austin Theory may now have his shifted his sights from Roman Reigns‘ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship to focus on the NXT Championship that’s currently held by Bron Breakker.
On the October 18th episode of WWE NXT, Kevin Owens returned to the show as a favor to Shawn Michaels and hosted an episode of the Kevin Owens Show featuring Bron Breakker, Ilja Dragunov, and JD McDonagh. The segment was full of tension, with Dragunov revealing that him hitting Bron Breakker last week was no accident, and he intends to once again taste championship gold after being forced to relinquish his NXT UK Championship due to injury.
While Dragunov stood tall with the NXT Championship above his head following a brawl, Austin Theory made a surprise entrance carrying the Money in the Bank briefcase. He raised the briefcase above his head after pointing at the championship belt, teasing that he may be on his way to NXT Halloween Havoc to take advantage of the carnage that’s sure to go down in the main event.
