Austin Theory won the United States Championship for a second time at Survivor Series when he saw off Bobby Lashley and Seth Rollins.
Since then, Theory has only been in action on Raw twice but he’s made sure to let the world know that it’s his time to shine. On the January 16th episode of the red brand a huge six-man elimination match was set for the main event to decide Theory’s next challenger.
Austin Theory To Face Bobby Lashley
The match featured Bobby Lashley, Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Baron Corbin, Seth Rollins and Finn Balor and unsurprisingly wasn’t short on action. The Miz was the first man eliminated via a Stomp from Rollins while Ziggler was next out after falling to the Pedigree.
As Lashley looked dominant, MVP and Omos made their way to the ring to distract the former World Champion. However, Lashley kept his head while those around him lost theirs. Rollins eliminated Balor with a Stomp and Lashley saw off Corbin with a Spear after he tried to escape Omos on the outside. This left just the former champions to decide who would get a shot at Theory.
Outside of the ring, Omos and Theory (Who had been on commentary) began a brawl with the giant looking set to Chokeslam the champion through the announce table. But his plans were thwarted by a quick thinking Rollins who hit him with a Stomp on the table instead. Omos head earlier launched Rollins across the desk.
Back in the ring Lashley hit another huge Spear, this time on The Visionary to score the win.
Bobby Lashley will face Austin Theory on the January 23rd episode of Raw. Also on the special 30th anniversary show, Becky Lynch will take on Bayley in a Cage Match, while a whole host of WWE legends have been confirmed for the show.
Elsewhere, The Usos have promised that “every generation” of The Bloodline will also be in attendance.
