Attitude Era Star Signs New Deal With WWE

Nation Of Domination WWE

Many WWE Attitude Era superstars were back on screen last week for Raw is XXX and one has just put pen to paper on a new five-year extension on his legends deal.

Fans were treated to appearances by The Undertaker, Shawn Michaels, Triple H, and Kurt Angle, whilst throughout the night a recreation of The APA games room saw a reunion between the former tag team, along with fan favorite The Godfather.

Following his appearance on Raw is XXX, The Godfather (Charles Wright) has now signed a five-year extension to a WWE Legends contract that was first secured twenty years ago.

Discussing the Legends deal whilst appearing on the Universal Wrestling Podcast, the former Papa Shango explained that nothing has altered for him, despite changes in leadership in WWE:

“It’s no different for me, I’m friends with both [Vince McMahon and Triple H]. I think both treat me the same. They both know about all my smoking and craziness. They both know me … I’ve been on a Legends Contract since 2003 … and I just now signed another one for five years. So, I mean, that says something. I’ve been on the payroll since 2003. You know, it ain’t bad being The Godfather.”

Whilst gaining success by winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship and Tag Team Championship, it is the portrayal of the character itself that led The Godfather to huge popularity and fame during the Attitude Era.

Size Matters For Attitude Era Legend The Godfather

During the interview, the 2016 Hall of Fame inductee was asked about the tv series Young Rock which has been looking back at the career of The Rock, including his time in the Nation.

The Godfather felt it was “cool” that he and the rest of the group appeared in the show, but wished they had found a more suitable actor who matched his height:

“F**k Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson. That mot**rf**ker should never had Ceelo f**king Green portray me. I’m 6 foot 7, ok, and they portrayed me as somebody who’s 6 foot 1. So, f**k the Rock, f**k him, m**herf**ker, f**k that ba**ard, , that mo**erf**ker f*cking 3 inches shorter than me and had me 5 inches shorter than me. F**k The Rock.”
