Athena Dedicates Recent Win To Sara Lee

Athena has dedicated a recent win to her late friend Sara Lee who passed away aged just 30-years-old.

On October 6th it was announced that Sara Weston, known to wrestling fans as Sara Lee had passed away aged just 30.

Sara Lee was the co-winner of WWE Tough Enough alongside Josh Bredl in 2015. She adopted the ring name of Hope throughout her Tough Enough journey was assigned to the WWE Performance Center in September 2015. It was here that she reverted to using her real name.

Lee married former WWE Superstar Wesley Blake in December 2017, with the couple having three young children together.

Posting on social media in reaction to the news, AEW star Athena paid tribute to Lee, sharing a photo from her wedding. In a further post the star dedicated her win on the October 5th edition of Dynamite to her friend.

On the show, Athena teamed with Toni Storm and Willow Nightingale to defeat Serena Deeb, Jamie Hayter and Penelope Ford.

Following the announcement of her passing a GoFundMe page was set up in order to help pay for funeral expenses and provide support to her family and young children. The Sara Lee Memorial fund quickly saw an influx of donations with many coming from wrestlers all over the world.

As of 9pm UK time on October 8th the total amount raised sits at $98,463.
