The Bella Twins, Nikki and Brie, have further confirmed that they will undoubtedly return to the ring for one final run with WWE before hanging-up their boots for good.
There has been much talk of a return for the former WWE Divas Champions since late 2020 when they teased a comeback on social media by pushing themselves forward to challenge then WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax.
Further to that, the pair then conducted an interview in which they stated they would return in two years time – 2022 – so their children could see them wrestle before Nikki’s fiancé, Artem Chigvintsev, conducted a sit-down oration with a magazine in which he promised the sisters would definitley be back between the ropes.
Now, with time seemingly ticking away on a return, The Bella Twins have appeared on popular American daytime talk-show Ellen to discuss where they’re currently at with a comeback and their time frame of two years. Beginning with Nikki, the fearless sibling talked about WrestleMania taking place in Dallas in 2022 and her ambition to be tag team champion:
“Recently, WWE made their huge announcement about WrestleMania for the next three years. When I heard about Dallas in 2022 and Hollywood in 2023, I got chills and was like, ‘Brie, we have never gone after the Tag Titles. They were made for us.’ There’s another run in the Bella Twins. Maybe in Dallas, WrestleMania. At some point, we’re coming back.”
It was then over to Brie to confirm the future return and speak on her SummerSlam 2014 bout with WWE’s Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon, where she saw the faces of the latter’s children as they got to watch her wrestle:
“I had this moment when I wrestled Stephanie McMahon at SummerSlam . When we came back after our match, her three little girls were in Gorilla. To see their faces when we came through the curtain, they were like [crying] ‘MOM!’ The goosebumps, the tears, they just looked at their mom like she was a superhero and I really want to wrestle in front of [Nikki’s son] Matteo, [her children] Buddy, and Birdie and then come back and them look at me the same way Stephanie’s daughters looked at her. I feel like in two years. Let the boys be two. “
Recently, Nikki Bella announced that her and Artem were in couples therapy because of her partner’s anger issues as well as her intention to take a role in WWE creative when her in-ring career is over.
The Bella Twins will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame over WrestleMania 37 weekend.
