Asuka Potentially Set For In-Ring Return?

Former Raw Women’s Champion Asuka could be set to return to a WWE ring for the first time in over six months according to a new report.

The Empress of Tomorrow last competed for WWE back in July at the Money In The Bank event. The Japanese star was a part of the women’s Money In The Bank match itself that was eventually won by Nikki A.S.H.

Early in 2021 Asuka was forced to miss some weeks of action after suffering a bad injury that required dental surgery after catching Shayna Baszler’s boot in her mouth.

Asuka had returned to the ring before her new teeth were ready and in August 2021, she shared a photo showing her with her dentist that also showed her arm in a brace indicating that she was injured.

Now Andrew Zarian of The Mat Men Podcast has commented on Asuka’s status and says the star “should be cleared now” to return to action.

The timing could not be better for Asuka or WWE if that is the case with the Royal Rumble on the horizon. Former SmackDown Women’s Champion Sasha Banks will miss the event through injury while her one-time tag team partner Bayley is still out of action.

Nineteen women have so far been announced as taking part in the women’s Royal Rumble which leaves space for the inaugural women’s Royal Rumble winner to return in the match, possibly as a surprise entrant.
