Asuka Reportedly Discussed For Potential Royal Rumble Return

A new report has revealed that former Raw Women’s Champion Asuka could be set for a shock return at the Royal Rumble.

With the Royal Rumble just a few short says away, speculation is running wild over who will be making a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble matches themselves. From Mr Perfect returning in 2002, to John Cena’s miracle return from injury in 2008 and Johnny Knoxville’s and Mickie James’ planned appearances in 2022, anything is possible in the Royal Rumble.

One thing that is reportedly looking increasingly possible is the return of former Raw Women’s Champion Asuka. While there has been no official confirmation, a new report from Fightful Select has noted that the Empress of Tomorrow is being discussed as a potential entrant in the women’s Royal Rumble match.

The report adds that there are “several talent” within WWE who believe that Asuka will be making her return in the match. While Fightful have confirmed that Asuka has been discussed as a potential entrant, WWE are remaining tight-lipped over the speculation.

Asuka has been out of action since the 18th July at Money In The Bank. While information around Asuka’s status has been scarce, the star posted a photo on social media in August of herself with her arm in a brace. Although there has been no further information regarding the status of her injury.

Despite this, it was reported earlier in January by Andrew Zarian of The Mat Men Podcast that the record-breaking NXT Women’s Champion had been cleared to return to the ring.

The news comes just 24-hours after it was reported that another former Raw Women’s Champion could be returning at the Rumble. In this case, the former champion is former UFC star Ronda Rousey.

It has since come to light that WWE are “heavily considering” a clash between Rousey and current Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch at WrestleMania 38.
