Asuka Names Her Dream Opponents

Former Raw Women’s Champion Asuka has named some of her dream opponents, naming two all-time legends of the business and a woman that made an impact in no time at all.

Since joining NXT in 2015 Asuka has tangled with the great and the good of women’s wrestling under the WWE umbrella. Her undefeated streak lasted years as she battled to win the NXT Women’s Championship and then later the inaugural women’s Royal Rumble match. Her success on the black and gold brand was such that she was never defeated for the title but relinquished it as she joined the main roster.

She has shared the ring with fellow champions Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Bayley, Sasha Banks, Alexa Bliss, and Nia Jax. However, one woman Asuka hasn’t yet faced is the one who interrupted her Royal Rumble celebrations, Ronda Rousey.

In an interview with ET Canada’s Shakiel Mahjouri Asuka named Rousey alongside two surprising names that she’d love to face off with in the ring.

Asuka stated:

“I want to wrestle with Triple H and Ric Flair. I fought many great WWE superstars. Oh, [I want to wrestle] Ronda Rousey. One day!”

Triple H has taken part in matches with women in the past, most notably his mixed-tag team match at WrestleMania 34 that pitted The Game and Stephanie McMahon against Kurt Angle and Rousey. Flair had his last match a decade ago in TNA, fittingly losing to Sting. It remains unlikely that the 72-year-old would step in the ring with the Japanese star.

‘Rowdy’ Ronda Rousey made a splash when she came to WWE after a hugely successful MMA career. The Olympic bronze medallist held the Raw Women’s Championship as she became one of the first women to headline WrestleMania. Rousey won’t be returning to a WWE ring anytime soon as she and husband Travis Browne have announced they are expecting their first child together.
