Former independent stars Anthony Henry and Alex Zayne have made their highly anticipated WWE debuts.
Henry appeared on the latest episode of NXT under the name Asher Hale.
Anthony Henry who is a former Evolve Tag Team Champion, debuted in defeat to Cameron Grimes.
Meanwhile, Alex Zayne made his debut on the latest 205 Live taping. The show which was recorded before NXT will air on Friday May 7th on Peacock at 10pm ET.
Zayne, who signed for WWE in December, will be known as Ari Sterling going forwards.
At the time of his signing WWE noted that:
“Alex Brandenburg competed under the name Alex Zayne on the independent scene. The Kentucky native has made a name for himself in promotions like Game Changer Wrestling, Black Label Pro and Ring of Honor during his 15-year career.”
Elsewhere on the May 4th episode of the black and gold brand, The Way defeated Ember Moon and Shotzi Blackheart to claim the NXT Women’s Tag Team Titles.
During the brutal Street fight which saw Blackheart dive off the lighting scaffolding, Candice LeRae pinned Shotzi after hitting the Wicked Stepsister on a steel chair.
The show also saw former NXT Champion Finn Balor make his return. Balor hadn’t appeared since losing his championship to Karrion Kross at NXT TakeOver: Stand & Deliver. However, Balor wasn’t alone, as Kyle O’Reilly and Pete Dunne made their pitch the champion. Kross was eventually left laying by Johnny Gargano and Austin Theory who jumped the champion, hitting him with a double superkick.
