On the May 12th episode of Friday Night SmackDown Liv Morgan and Raquel Rodriguez successfully defended the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships against Damage CTRL’s Dakota Kai and Bayley.
Despite emerging from the title bout on the winning side Morgan, unfortunately, suffered an injury, which led to the women’s tag team titles being vacated. It was also announced that new champions will be crowned in a Fatal-Four-Way Match on the May 29th episode of Monday Night Raw.
To add further woe to the unfortunate situation, it has now been confirmed that Kai sustained an injury during the same match as Morgan. At the time of writing, there is no official word on the extent of the injuries or time required for rehab and recovery.
After relinquishing the titles Rodriguez revealed she would find another partner to get the titles back, but before she could finish Bayley interrupted her telling that Kai had suffered a “much more devastating, and heartbreaking injury” than Morgan.
The Role Model continued to inform Rodriguez that she will team Iyo Sky in the Fatal-Four-Way match meaning that the outing now features Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler, Sonya Deville and Chelsea Green, Bayley and Iyo Sky, Raquel Rodriguez and a mystery partner.
Bayley Says There’s “Magic Waiting” In The WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles
After getting another chance to capture the titles for a third time she took to Twitter saying despite the turmoil and missed opportunities surrounding the championships there is magic waiting.
“These titles have been through A LOT. The ones who’ve held them know the pride and sometimes the extreme struggle that comes with them. But we keep fighting for them, we take a stand for them. Through injuries, break ups and hopeful opportunities…..there’s magic in there waiting”
