CM Punk has once again been mocked by a WWE star for his brief UFC run.
In 2016 and 2018, Punk stepped inside the octagon to attempt to become the next pro wrestler to find success in the MMA world. Unfortunately for Punk, both fights did not go as planned as the Chicago native lost both of his UFC fights.
During his time away and since his return to wrestling, Punk’s underwhelming run in the UFC has been brought up numerous times to get a response from the fans. The latest jab at the former World Champion has come from his 2024 rival.
During a visit to London for UFC Fight Night, Drew McIntyre couldn’t resist making another reference at Punk’s expense:
“I can confidently say, if I got in the Octagon right now with zero training whatsoever, I would do 1,000 times better than CM Punk. I mean that. 1,000 times better,”
McIntyre and Punk were involved in the feud of the year in 2024. After Punk was unable to compete at WrestleMania due to injury, McIntyre made it his mission to mock Punk at every opportunity. With Punk remaining on TV while injured, the former World Champion continually cost McIntyre his opportunity at winning the title, including in his home country of Scotland.
With Punk cleared to compete in the summer, a trilogy of matches took place that culminated in a critically acclaimed Hell in a Cell match at Bad Blood.
Who Else Recently Made Fun Of CM Punk’s UFC Run?
Although WWE and UFC have been under the same umbrella for the best part of 2 years, no pro wrestlers have made the jump to the octagon to attempt to conquer the MMA world. Speaking in a recent interview, one WWE star claimed that CM Punk ruined their chances of having a UFC fight in the future.
H/t to Fightful.
