A new report has suggested that Adam Cole might not be the only NXT Superstar who’s contract is about to expire.
According to Fightful Select, Pete Dunne’s NXT deal is reportedly coming up soon. The report notes that although a date hasn’t been confirmed one source suggested that it was after SummerSlam weekend.
“Fightful has heard that the situation was “similar to that of Adam Cole’s” but haven’t been given any additional details besides that his contract is in fact coming up soon.”
The report closes by saying that it’s currently unclear as to whether Dunne’s contract has expired and he agreed a short-term agreement as Cole did previously.
Pete Dunne made is WWE debut in the United Kingdom Championship in December 2016. While Dunne was defeated by Tyler Bate in the final, he later avenged this loss at NXT TakeOver: Chicago becoming United Kingdom Champion.
During his time in NXT Dunne has also claimed the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and NXT Tag Team Championships alongside Matt Riddle.
In recent weeks Dunne has formed an alliance with Oney Lorcan and the returning Ridge Holland.
Dunne is the second Superstar from the black and gold brand who’s future is less than certain.
It was recently revealed that Adam Cole’s contract had expired in July. However, the former NXT Champion agreed a short-term extension to take him through SummerSlam weekend. This would include a potential match NXT TakeOver: 36 on August 22nd. It has since been noted by talkSPORT that Cole agreed the deal so he could put Kyle O’Reilly over at TakeOver.
