The tweet from AEW confirms that Jay will need surgery and could miss up to a year of in-ring action. Dark Order’s number 99 has been replaced in the AEW Women’s Championship Eliminator Tournament by Madi Wrenkowski. Jay was scheduled to face Dr. Britt Baker in the first round airing on YouTube. Wrenkowski will now take that spot and face Dr. Baker for the chance to progress in the tournament. Wrenkowski has made several appearances on AEW Dark, losing to Leyla Hirsch, Leva Bates, and Red Velvet. 25-year-old Wrenkowski is a protege and student of fellow AEW star Thunder Rosa. Rosa will face Riho in the US side of the draw’s semi-finals.
Jay’s last match aired on the 6th of January 2021 edition of AEW Dark on YouTube where she would defeat Alex Gracia. Jay’s last match on AEW Dynamite was on the ‘Brodie Lee Celebration of Life’ episode where she teamed with Tay Conti to defeat Dr. Britt Baker and Penelope Ford.
Everyone at Inside The Ropes sends their best wishes to Anna Jay for a speedy recovery.
