Angelo Dawkins of The Street Profits is said to be impressing WWE officials backstage, which has led to an increase in the number of singles opportunities given to the multi-time Tag Team Champion. Until now, Dawkins has been largely restricted to tag team encounters alongside Montez Ford.
This comes via Fightful Select, who have had nothing but pleasant comments for Angelo Dawkins on their Monday Night Raw post-shows. It’s said that a WWE source reached out to them in lieu of yet more positive words for Dawkins, confirming that WWE feels the same way.
This source stated how content WWE officials have been with Angelo Dawkins as of late, with improvements being made to his in-ring output, his physique, and his character. Continuing, it’s reported that this has been why fans have seen more singles matches for Angelo as of late.
Outside of one singles match he contested in March vs. then-NXT Champion Dolph Ziggler, Angelo Dawkins has wrestled five singles bouts over the summer, scoring wins over both of The Usos and Omos in the process. He last competed on Monday Night Raw’s 3 October broadcast in a loss to The Bloodline’s Solo Sikoa.
Angelo Dawkins Could Be The Next Breakout Star
Fightful noted in their report that an unnamed AEW talent who they’d spoken to recently had “long felt” like Angelo Dawkins was the real standout performer of The Street Profits, rather than Montez Ford. Montez has regularly had praise heaped on him for his outlandish athletic ability in the ring, though this could be about to sway in Angelo’s direction.
Debuting on WWE programming in June 2012, it wasn’t until the formation of The Street Profits that Angelo Dawkins got on track. Together, they’ve held the Tag Team Championships on Raw, SmackDown, and NXT, making them one of only two pairings – FTR being the other – to be WWE Triple Crown Tag Team Champions.
