Following the latest WWE Draft, the promotion has continued its tradition of shortening Superstars’ ring names, with Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo being the latest to have their monikers trimmed.
WWE has a long tradition of changing their Superstars’ names, usually when they enter the company for the first time, such as Prince Devitt becoming Finn Balor when he made his NXT debut. They have also often made alterations to existing Superstars’ names, usually by shortening them. This happened to the likes of Big E Langston, now ‘Big E’, and Antonio Cesaro, better known today as ‘Cesaro’.
Garza revealed on Twitter that he has now received the name shortening treatment and will simply be called ‘Angel’, while the WWE profile page for Carrillo, Garza’s real-life cousin and tag team partner shows that he will also drop his surname to become ‘Humberto’.

Angel and Humberto have been teaming together for several weeks and in the latest WWE Draft were both moved to SmackDown. On the November 5th edition of the show, their team was given the name ‘Los Lotharios’ and the duo went on to defeat Cesaro and Mansoor.
Two additional Superstars have undergone more regal changes, as the victors of the King of the Ring and Queens Crown tournaments, Xavier Woods and Zelina Vega respectively, have now officially taken on their royal titles and will be announced as ‘King Woods‘ and ‘Queen Zelina‘.
