The April 1st episode of Friday Night SmackDown will be a special WrestleMania edition of the blue brand. On March 25th it was announced that the show will play host to the Andre The Giant Battle Royal as well as a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Championship.

The Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal was introduced in 2014 at WrestleMania XXX. On that occasion it was won by now former WWE Superstar Cesaro. The match has also been won by the likes of Matt Hardy, Braun Strowman and Baron Corbin.

In 2021 it was Jey Uso who earned the win, eliminating Shinsuke Nakamura to claim victory.

At time of writing no Superstars have officially been confirmed for the Battle Royal, although the likes of Finn Balor, Damian Priest and Apollo Crews all feature on the match graphic.

It has also been confirmed that the show will feature a Triple Threat Match for the Intercontinental Title. The match will see Ricochet defend his championship against Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo. On the most recent episode of SmackDown, Ricochet squared off against Garza, who snuck the win. As the Lethal Lovers made their way up the ramp Ricochet called Humberto back to the ring for a match.

In another short contest, Humberto won by count out after Angel held Ricochet’s foot, preventing him from returning to the ring.

Michael Cole later announced that Ricochet had gone to Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville and asked for the match.

Elsewhere on the show, Xavier Woods returned to action for the first time since January 7th. After making a surprise appearance, Woods made quick work of Ridge Holland.
