Speaking at a press conference for Chase U, Andre Chase referenced wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer!
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has been in the wrestling journalism industry for decades, and his system of rating matches on a five star scale has drawn plenty of controversy over the years. On the latest episode of NXT 2.0, Andre Chase referenced the star system during a press conference he held on behalf of Chase U.
The segment began with Chase addressing the fact that he scored a pinfall victory over two-time NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes, who lost his title to Solo Sikoa on the September 13th episode. However, Sikoa was forced to relinquish his title the next week as he wasn’t originally scheduled to face Hayes that night.
Chase said that his victory over Hayes earned him a spot into the ladder match at Halloween Havoc that will determine the new NXT North American Champion. He said that he would be facing Von Wagner next week, and that he’s confident he’ll win and earn his spot in the ladder match alongside Carmelo Hayes, Wes Lee, and Oro Mensah.
When Chase opened himself to questioning, a reporter in the field (who introduced himself as Dave) asked how confident Andre Chase was feeling going into the match with Von Wagner next week considering that he’s never been successful against Wagner. This led to one of Chase’s signature tirades where he berated Dave and referenced it not being a “five star question.”
“Who the f*** have you ever beat Dave? Do you think that was a five star question? How many times have you ever made it? Have you ever been in a g****** ring? Every time I punch Von Wagner I’m gonna think of your stupid, smug face! Now that is a teachable moment.”
Chase U student Thea Hail also took to social media to back up her mentor.

Elsewhere on NXT 2.0, Bron Breakker used math to declare that he wanted to face Ilja Dragunov and JD McDonagh in a triple threat match at Halloween Havoc.
