Former WWE Superstar Andrade has announced what will be the first match of his post-WWE career as he enters the ring once again in June.
Andrade left WWE after reportedly requesting his release on March 21st, 2021. Following confirmation of his WWE release, the former WWE United States Champion took to Twitter to thank Triple H, Paul Heyman, and William Regal for years of support.
The full tweet read:
“I want to thank @TripleH, @HeymanHustle and@RealKingRegal for all these years and great support that they gave me all these years also to the fans who were always supporting me, a big hug to all the talent and workers who always behaved kindly to me.”
Andrade was apparently not subject to the standard 90-day non-compete clause following his departure from WWE and will now step into the ring on June 12th for La Batalla. His first non-WWE match in over five years pits the former ‘ungovernable’ one against El Hijo Del Santo in Anaheim, California.
The last time the former NXT Champion stepped in the ring was on the 12th of October 2020 edition of Raw when he fell to defeat at the hands of former tag team partner Angel Garza.
Andrade already has prominent matches booked for after his showdown with El Hijo Del Santo. A week after that bout, on June 19th Andrade will team with former Los Ingobernables partner RUSH, Bestia Del Ring, and a surprise partner to face former ROH Word Champion Matt Taven, PJ Black, and two surprise partners. That match will take place on the debut event promoted by Federacion Wrestling.
A match with Alberto Del Rio follows on July 31st for Andrade before ‘El Idolo’ challenges Kenny Omega for the AAA Mega Championship at TripleMania XXIX on August 14th.
