Ever since Andrade was granted his release by WWE in March, the Mexican star has continually been linked with AEW.
While there has never been any evidence that Andrade was in line to join the company, it has long been the belief that La Sombra would eventually wind up in Jacksonville.
However, for the first time, it appears as though there has at least been contact between the two sides. Writing in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer notes that Andrade and AEW have held talks, although it is unclear what the outcome of these talks was.
Since leaving WWE, the former United States Champion has remained somewhat coy on his long term future. Andrade is set to appear at the upcoming Federación Wrestling event on June 19th, and recently appeared in a pre-taped segment at AAA’s Rey de Reyes 2021, challenging Kenny Omega.
The appearance for AAA was perhaps surprising given the fact Andrade previously wrestled primarily for the promotion’s major rival CMLL before joining WWE in 2015.
Andrade has been out of the ring since being beaten by Angel Garza on the October 12th episode of Monday Night RAW. Meanwhile, Aleister Black who also last wrestled on the same show, is currently readying himself for a return to the ring.
It has recently been reported that Black’s wife, Zelina Vega could be heading back to WWE. After being spotted at the WWE Performance Center, Fightful Select, have noted that Vega was filmed walking into the PC alongside Simone Johnson, daughter of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.
Vega and Andrade appeared together for WWE from 2017 to just prior to Vega’s release in November 2020.
