Andrade Challenges Kenny Omega In First Post-WWE Appearance

Andrade

Andrade has made his first official appearance since leaving WWE and made a stunning challenge to the current AEW, AAA and IMPACT World Champion Kenny Omega!

Appearing in a pre-recorded video during AAA’s Rey de Reyes 2021, the former NXT Champion announced he was coming to AAA with two goals in mind: To face Psycho Clown, a top star of the promotion, and to challenge for Kenny Omega’s AAA Mega Championship at TripleMania XXIX! Provided Omega doesn’t defend the belt between now and then, this will mark his fifth defence of the title since winning it in October 2019.

The promo has since been uploaded to Andrade’s shared YouTube channel with his girlfriend Charlotte Flair, Anywhere Flair & Andrade:

The appearance is perhaps surprising to Lucha Libre fans given the fact Andrade has never appeared for AAA prior to this, wrestling primarily for the promotion’s major rival CMLL before joining WWE in 2015. The move mirrors the first post-WWE appearance of KENTA who debuted for NJPW in 2019 over his former mainstay promotion Pro Wrestling NOAH.

This is unlikely to be Andrade’s first match since his WWE departure, however, as the 31-year-old announced at the Federación Wrestling press conference that he would main event the promotion’s inaugural pay-per-view on June 19th in an 8-man tag team match. There, he will face PJ Black, Matt Taven and two mystery opponents alongside Ring of Honor World Champion RUSH, Bestia del Ring and a mystery partner of their own.
