“All Signs” Point To William Regal Joining WWE

William Regal AEW

With every passing day it appears that William Regal gets closer to the AEW exit. Speculation has been building regarding the star in recent weeks, and has reached fever pitch following the November 30th edition of Dynamite.

On the episode Regal was attacked by MJF after presenting him with a brand new AEW World Title belt. The veteran had helped MJF win the title at Full Gear, turning his back on Jon Moxley. After the beat-down on Dynamite, Regal left the arena on a stretcher, seemingly writing him off television.

William Regal Seemingly WWE Bound

A new report from Mike Johnson of PWInsider has now claimed that “all signs” are that the British veteran will be WWE bound shortly. This comes after an earlier report stated that there was “certainly a possibility” Regal would be returning to his former employer.

In addition, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has reported that some AEW talents believe that Regal’s contract ends in December. This is in contrast to an earlier report which stated that the contract Regal signed in March 2022 was for three years.

As his in-ring career wound down William Regal moved into a backstage role with WWE, and became an integral part of NXT. As well as appearing as the on-screen General Manager, the British star played a key role in recruitment, and helped sign the likes of Sasha Banks, Kevin Owens, Finn Balor and more. During this period, Regal formed a formidable team with Triple H, which built on their existing friendship which goes back decades.

With Triple H away from WWE, William Regal was released in January 2022 and debuted with AEW just two months later. There have long been suggestions that Regal would eventually return to WWE to work with Triple H now that he has become Chief Content Officer.
