Aliyah Pulled From Team SmackDown

Aliyah has been pulled from the SmackDown women’s team ahead of Survivor Series by WWE Official Sonya Deville.

WWE announced the teams for Survivor Series on November 6th, but now less than two weeks away from the spectacular, teams across the board have been thrown into disarray.

The SmackDown women’s team was originally made up of Sasha Banks, Shayna Baszler, Natalya, Shotzi and Aliyah. While the inclusion of Aliyah was seen as something of a surprise as she had yet to make her debut on SmackDown, it also presented an opportunity for the young Superstar to make her mark on the big stage.

However, after the latest episode of SmackDown, that opportunity is no more.

In the opening match on November 12th, Aliyah teamed with Sasha Banks and Naomi to take on Natalya, Shotzi and Shayna Baszler. The six women had got into a huge brawl as the show began with Sonya Deville attempting to introduce Team SmackDown.

As the match flew towards the finish, Natalya locked in the Sharpshooter on the debutant Aliyah before trying to grab the ropes for extra leverage. Instead she was met by Naomi who thwarted her attempt to gain an advantage, leaving Aliyah to pin the former SmackDown Women’s Champion.

After the match, still excited at picking up the win, Aliyah was confronted by Deville backstage. The official calmly said that she had been advised to remove the former NXT Superstar from the team.

Later in the night, the SmackDown men’s team was also on the end of a shakeup after Adam Pearce, flanked by NXT 2.0 Superstar Von Wagner, announced that the loser of the match between Sami Zayn and Jeff Hardy would lose their spot at the team. In the end it was Hardy who grabbed the win, leaving a distraught Zayn dropped from Team SmackDown.

At time of writing there is no news on who will be replacing Aliyah or Sami Zayn.
