Alexa Bliss Recalls Original Pitch For Lilly The Doll

Alexa Bliss and Lilly

Alexa Bliss has lifted the lid on her original pitch featuring Lilly, as well as the creation of the doll itself.

During the summer of 2020, Alexa Bliss joined forces with ‘The Fiend’ Bray Wyatt. The bizarre partnership between the pair began in earnest after Wyatt had attacked Bliss on the July 31st edition of SmackDown.

Over the following months, Bliss adopted a number of Wyatt’s moves, as she became his supernatural sidekick.

As the partnership began to get progressively darker, Bliss took over Wyatt’s feud with Randy Orton, facing The Viper at Fastlane in March 2021. During the unconventional bout, Bliss used her supernatural powers against Orton, before Wyatt reappeared to attack the former World Champion, handing her the win.

This led to Wyatt facing Orton at WrestleMania 37, in what proved to be his last match in the company. On the Raw after WrestleMania, Bliss declared that she no longer needed Wyatt, and introduced the world to her doll Lilly.

Speaking to WWE Germany, Alexa Bliss broke down how Lilly was created, while revealing that bringing the doll into her act was her idea.

“I love it. It’s so great. You know, Lilly was a fun concept to bring to life. I texted Jason who does all the work on the masks that you see on WWE, all of the crowns that I wore with the black goo coming out of it, he and his wife did that, and they are incredibly talented and any kind of prop work that you see that’s just kind of like a little extra special, that definitely comes from them,” she said. “They did a lot of the puppets for the Firefly Fun House/Alexa’s Playground, they came up with Lilly.

It was really cool because I texted Jason and I remember saying like, ‘I really want a doll to interact with. I want it to look like someone scribbled her — like a child scribbled her on a piece of paper, she’s popped off the page, I was like button eyes, 3-D teeth, I wanted to kind of look like me, but scary,’ and they came up with, they showed me Lilly and it was the most incredible thing I’ve ever seen.

I was so happy that WWE went for it. Because I knew that there was something special about Lilly, and the fact that she has resonated with so many people, especially the younger generation of fans is awesome. It just shows that they enjoy her as much as I do. It’s a lot of fun to work with Lilly, and it’s just so cool. I always just wanted to have something that people can just like — tangible that they can play with and it’s really awesome.”

Alexa Bliss recently took to social media to fire some friendly shots at AEW’s TBS Champion Jade Cargill. Referencing Cargill’s new feud with Bliss’ real-life friend Athena, the star said she would love to get annoyed about Cargill coming for her “bestie” but she doesn’t know who she is.
