Alexa Bliss Discusses WWE Break – “Time Away Is Always A Good Thing”

Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss is taking time off from WWE due to pregnancy and the star knows it can be helpful.

Bliss embraces the ideal that “absence makes the heart grow fonder,” and in a new conversation with The Messanger, she speaks to the value of having time away from the television spotlight.

“Time away is always a good thing. When it comes to WWE, time away and reinventing a character and evolving yourself is the key to career longevity at WWE. So I always say, time away is such a good thing because it gives people the time to miss you.”

A New Beginning For Alexa Bliss

Bliss does indeed have a “bun in the oven” and just made the reveal this week that her and her pop star husband Ryan Cabrera are due to have a baby girl in December.

As far as an in-ring competition standpoint, fans haven’t seen Bliss work since the 2023 Royal Rumble when she fought Bianca Belair in a losing effort for the WWE Raw Women’s Championship (which is now the WWE Women’s Championship).

Since joining WWE over a decade ago, Bliss has been several personas, but realizes this hiatus will be good for her in the grand scheme of it all.

“When you’re being seen on WWE three or four times an episode, you don’t really have anywhere to go with your character. So whenever you take time off, it’s always a good time to evolve and to keep going. And I’ve already been probably six or seven different versions of myself. And each time it’s done well with merchandise sales, with bookings and all that stuff. So I don’t really like to go backwards with my work. I always like to go forward.”

With this being a huge life change, Bliss is going to take the time needed to be a new mother before bouncing back into the wrestling ring.

“I’m going to get to working out and doing all that stuff and get to where I need to be, you know, to have time. [I’ll have] the first fundamental months with the baby before thinking about trying to rush back to work.”
