On the October 31st edition of Monday Night Raw Alexa Bliss and Asuka pinned Dakota Kai and IYO SKY to win the Women’s Tag Team Titles. In the process, the Empress of Tomorrow became the first woman to win tag team gold with three different partners.
The new champions didn’t have too long to celebrate as it was quickly announced that they would be putting the gold on the line against Damage CTRL at Crown Jewel 2022.
Alexa Bliss And Bray Wyatt Shenanigans Incoming?
Ahead of the match in Saudi Arabia, Bliss and Asuka were being interviewed backstage when Bray Wyatt’s logo flashed up on the screen. Bliss looked visibly shaken by the graphic, given her former partnership with Wyatt when he performed under his guise as The Fiend.
Fast forward to the action in the ring and Dakota Kai and IYO SKY entered alone as Bayley is scheduled to take on Bianca Belair in a Last Woman Standing Match for the Raw Women’s Title later in the show.
The action was fast and furious, with an exchange between Asuka and long-time rival IYO SKY bringing a roar of appreciation from the crowd. It appeared that the champions would be holding on to their gold as Alexa Bliss climbed to the top rope to hit Twisted Bliss. However, she was slowed down by SKY who appeared on the apron and ended up brawling with Asuka.
Although Bliss did come off the top rope, Dakota Kia got her knees up. But not to be denied, Bliss quickly fought back with a DDT again climbed back to the top rope. With the referee’s back turned Nikki Cross appeared in the ring and attacked Alexa Bliss with an inverted DDT which saw her head drilled into the canvas from the top rope.
As Cross escaped, this allowed Dakota Kai to drape an arm over Bliss to score the win and regain the Women’s Tag Team Championships. Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss are former champions themselves, although the motive for the Scottish star’s attack remains unclear.
Nikki Cross returned to Raw on October 24th, shedding her Nikki A.S.H. persona to interfere in a match between Bayley and Bianca Belair.
