Alexa Bliss has apologized to this released WWE star for taking up her Royal Rumble spot.
Entering the match as number 21 and lasting around 11 minutes, Alexa Bliss made her much-awaited WWE return after almost two years. However, toward the closing stages of the match, fans saw Liv Morgan eliminate the former champion.
Soon after her return, Fightful Select reported that Bliss’ return was completely a surprise, and that she had replaced Shotzi in the match following her contract negotiations. Now, almost four months after the PLE, Shotzi Blackheart appeared on Unwrapped with Daria and Toni and shared how Bliss had apologized to her following her return.
“She felt so bad and she came up to me afterwards and she was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m so sorry! I didn’t even realize [they were giving me someone else’s spot].”
Shotzi Blackheart left WWE earlier this year as a result of the promotion, allowing her contract to expire. She will be a completely free agent this summer and is set to appear in MLW in June.
Shotzi BlackHeart Explains How WWE Brought Her To Royal Rumble Before Alexa Bliss’ Return
In the same podcast appearance on Unwrapped with Daria and Toni, the former NXT Women’s Tag-Team Champion opened up on how WWE had called her for the PLE on short notice before Bliss’ return was confirmed.
“I heard mixed messages. A couple producers said that I was always in the Rumble, but then they told me last minute. And then — yeah, I don’t know. I was very confused by it. But, they didn’t relay anything until like the day before. It was like 3 pm the day before [the Royal Rumble] and they were like, ‘Hey, can you get on a flight in a couple hours?’ And I’m like, ‘Oh my God, i’m not ready for this!’ and packed my bags. I don’t even know what I put in my bags, got to the airport in like an hour. And then it led to nothing.”
Despite rehearsing and getting makeup for the bout, her appearance was scrapped last moment.
“I got told while I was in the makeup chair that I wasn’t in it.@
