Former WWE Tag Team Champion Al Snow provided an insightful recount of a notorious airport brawl between Steve Blackman and Bradshaw.
The incident transpired in 1998 amidst WWE’s shoot-fighting tournament, Brawl for All. According to Al Snow, during an interview with Wrestling Shoot Interviews, Bradshaw, known for his boisterous behaviour, would often provoke Blackman at airports by charging at him, playfully shouting “Ten points!” as he took him down to the ground.
Bradshaw was double-legging Steve in the airport screaming ‘Ten points’ and running away and goosing him. Steve kept telling him to stop doing it and said ‘I’m gonna kill you If you don’t stop doing it.’
Despite Blackman’s repeated pleas for Bradshaw to cease his antics, the teasing persisted, leading Blackman to reach his breaking point. In the ensuing altercation, Blackman reportedly pummeled Bradshaw with several blows to the face before Al Snow and fellow Superstar Darren Drozdov intervened, separating the embattled wrestlers.
I look up and I see Bradshaw. He’s behind Steve. And he goose’s him and Steve turns around and cuts promo on him and he does it again. Blackman spins, hits him with a back fist right here underneath the right eye, and follows it with a left and hits the exact same spot. Bradshaw staggers back and grabs Blackman’s shirt. Blackman just proceeds with his left hand to continuously pelt the exact same spot.
So, I jumped in, landed on the edge of the carousel right on the rail, ran across the rail, jumped in between grabbed Steve. And at the same time, Darren Drozdov was coming from the other side and grabbed Bradshaw. I’m trying to get Steve away from him. And I’m like, ‘Just wait till we get to the building, you can take him in a room and beat the s**t out of him.’
Bradshaw attempted to apologise to Blackman, however, the latter remained livid and still sought to settle scores with Bradshaw. Upon arrival at the event venue, Blackman issued an ultimatum – Bradshaw had to publicly apologise to him in front of the entire crew during mealtime. Only then would he consider forgiving Bradshaw for his actions. Bradshaw complied, offering his apology before the assembled WWE talent and staff at the catering area.
And Bradshaw goes ‘What do I need to do?’ And Steve goes ‘You’re going to stand up in catering. And you’re going to apologise to me in front of everybody. Because if you don’t, and you stutter, you take a misstep. I’m gonna beat you’re a** in front of everybody.’
Much to everyone’s relief, Blackman accepted Bradshaw’s apology, effectively diffusing the tension and bringing an end to the infamous incident.
