AJ Styles opened up an on-location brawl with LA Knight.
After AJ Styles cost LA Knight his opportunity to win the Elimination Chamber in Australia, the two men became embroiled in a bitter feud that saw them face off at WrestleMania 40. On the March 22nd episode of SmackDown, Knight showed up to Style’s home, sparking a brawl between the two men. Police arrested Knight for trespassing, but commentary made it known that Styles wasn’t pressing charges ahead of their WrestleMania bout.
Speaking in a new interview with Metro UK, Styles opened up about the segment, saying the two men wanted to make it feel personal and revealing that real police officers were involved in the filming.
“It was great. Honestly, it was something that I personally wanted to do to make it personal. This isn’t, you know – I’m going back and forth between Allen Jones and AJ Styles at this point,’ he said, admitting he was breaking character for our interview.
But it was something that I wanted to do. I wanted to get out of the ring, and out of the arena, and take it somewhere different. Going back to where it used to be, honestly, you know?
And I thought that was more entertaining, and that’s what we got to do – and having the cops cooperate was so awesome.”
AJ Styles Feels “Blessed” to Work With Gainesville Police
Continuing, Styles explained what it was like to work with the police officers, saying the cops didn’t play around but were wonderful to work with.
“In Gainesville, we were in my hometown, they were called on – oh, they were real cops, and didn’t play around either! They were big dudes, and they were bad dudes. So we were certainly blessed to have those guys.”
Styles also said he couldn’t have been more pleased with the way the brawl between himself and LA Knight came across on television.
“There have been colder nights. But that one wasn’t so bad. But it turned out, in my mind – it turned out exactly the way I way I wanted it, with the dash cam and the body cam. It was perfect!”
In another recent interview, AJ Styles opened up about his recent body transformation.
