AJ Styles addressed an ongoing rumour and said he couldn’t make any promises regarding the same at present.
The Phenomenal One brought a smile to the faces of many fans when he returned to TNA at their recently concluded Slammiversary PPV. Styles had not made an appearance in the Nashville-based promotion since his departure in 2014.
AJ Styles was a TNA Original, and his return immediately sparked rumors about him having one more match in the promotion.
AJ Styles Speaks About TNA Return And Addresses Rumors Of Another Match
Speaking in a backstage segment after his appearance, the former two-time TNA World Heavyweight Champion shared that the occasion was very special for him as he went back to the promotion and met the Total Nonstop Action Wrestling fans after a long absence.
Styles also acknowledged and thanked WWE for allowing him to go back to his roots. He then addressed the long-standing rumours of another match in the Nashville-based promotion, stating that he hoped there was something special when it came to having another bout, but he couldn’t make any promises about it just yet:
Tonight was the perfect night for me. It was an opportunity for me to come and see the fans face to face, something I haven’t done in a really long time, and WWE said, ‘Yeah, sure. Go do that.’ You don’t see that every day. So the opportunity just to come and visit and share some time with them is pretty amazing. I hope there’s something special as far as a match goes, but I can’t promise that. I can’t promise you tomorrow what’s gonna happen to me. I can tell you this: I was very excited. Even I had the butterflies tonight.”

Though he gave a vague answer, given the relationship between WWE and TNA, it is not far from the realm of possibility that the Phenomenal One could have one last match in his old promotion.
While fans have to wait for his TNA match, for now, AJ Styles is all set to face Dominik Mysterio at SummerSlam for the WWE Intercontinental Championship.
