AJ Styles will miss the Royal Rumble after suffering a serious leg injury.
On December 29th WWE held a live event in Hershey, Pennsylvania which featured a six-person tag team match involving AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Mia Yim against Damian Priest, Finn Balor and Rhea Ripley. During the match, Styles went over the top rope but appeared to land awkwardly. The referee threw up the ”X” symbol to show that there had been an injury and the match was quickly brought to an end. The Phenomenal One was seen clutching his left leg.
AJ Styles Confirms Broken Ankle
Styles was tended to at ringside by a number of officials before being helped to his feet by Anderson and taken backstage. It was noted by fans in attendance that Styles was struggling to walk.
The man himself has now taken to social media to confirm that he has a broken ankle. Although the star doesn’t give a timeline for his return, Styles states that this will be the longest he’s ever been out of the ring.
“Just want you guys to know that I’m ok. Broken ankle is what I’m dealing with. No surgery, this just takes some time to recover. This will be the longest I’ve ever been out of the ring. Thanks for the prayers and get well wishes.”

Just 24-hours later another WWE star also suffered something of an injury scare on Friday Night SmackDown. During a brawl between Imperium and Braun Strowman, Ricochet ran to the ring with a steel chair to help the Monster Among Men. In the process the high-flying star caught Gunther with an errant chair shot cutting the Austrian’s head open. Gunther was immediately surrounded by officials with towels and ushered backstage.
At time of writing there is no news on the severity of the injury.
Everyone at Inside The Ropes would like to wish AJ Styles a speedy recovery.
