Despite being one of WWE’s top names, AJ Styles has revealed that he hopes IMPACT Wrestling and AEW can also be successful.
During the early portion of his career AJ Styles became a TNA and IMPACT Wrestling legend. For more than a decade the star tangled with some of the best wrestlers that the world had to offer in a series of matches that are still fondly remembered by fans today.
Although Styles is now under contract with WWE, he was still available to appear on video at Slammiversary 2022 to congratulate the promotion on their 20th anniversary.
Speaking to Alex McCarthy Styles reflected on this appearance, explaining that he wants both IMPACT Wrestling and AEW to succeed.
“I’m glad I got the opportunity. I still want IMPACT Wrestling to do well. I want AEW to do well. Competition is a good thing, it makes everybody better, there that. We want to see people succeed and to tell the truth, I have friends in every company, I would like to see them do well. So, they have my support, just like anybody else. I want to see them do well, I don’t want to see anyone lose their job and you never know who might show up in WWE.”
With regard to AEW, Styles revealed that he never seriously considered joining the company, adding that he wants to stay with WWE.
“I didn’t really sign a new deal. Basically, I had a player option and I just used that option. I had no plans, really, looking back. I want to be with WWE. As much as I’d like to be with my friends see, this is what I know. I know what is expected of me, I understand what they need from me here in WWE and I want to be a part of it.”
AJ Styles has emerged as the number one contender for the United States Championship. The Phenomenal One is due to challenge Bobby Lashley for the gold on the August 15th edition of Monday Night Raw.
