AJ Styles Breaks Silence on TNA Return With a Long, Emotional Statement

AJ Styles WWE TNA Slammiversary 2025 RAW

AJ Styles seems to be at the tail end of his professional wrestling career. So it’s rather fitting that The Phenomenal One was announced for TNA Slammiversary.

Unlike many of his peers in World Wrestling Entertainment, AJ Styles is a TNA Original. He worked his way up the ranks in the industry, having scratched and clawed in the independent scene as well, before finally arriving at the sports entertainment capital. Prior to WWE and his run in NJPW, the veteran was best known for his tenure in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling.

AJ Styles Reflects on His 26-Year Career Ahead of TNA Return

With TNA President Carlos Silva as his source, journalist Ariel Helwani confirmed on X/Twitter two days ago that Styles would be at TNA Slammiversary, scheduled for tonight. But then, the two-time former WWE Champion’s exact role was not revealed in the post.

It is worth noting, though, that the current TNA World Champion, Trick Williams, has openly expressed interest in locking horns against the veteran. Williams is booked to defend his title at the event against TNA stars Joe Hendry and Mike Santana.

Meanwhile, ahead of the event, AJ Styles shared a heartfelt post on X/Twitter about his journey in the wrestling business, having had a humble beginning in 1998:

If I had the ability to go back in time, I’d tell myself ‘You have no idea how far this ride’s about to take you. All the ups, the downs, the doubts—they’re gonna shape you into one of the best in the world. Don’t lose that chip on your shoulder, but learn when to let go of your pride. You’re gonna walk into places you never thought you’d belong… Way better than you could imagine. Stay humble, stay hungry, and trust God’s timing—it’s perfect, even when it doesn’t feel like it. You’re not just phenomenal. You’re built for this.’”

As for Styles’ commitments to WWE, he is an important figure on Monday Night RAW, with an ongoing storyline with Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio. It remains to be seen when the company will book his title shot against The Judgment Day star after it was postponed last month.
