AJ Lee’s WWE Return Receives Mammoth Numbers; Triple H Will Be Pleased

WWE star AJ Lee

Triple H should be pleased with AJ Lee’s return last night.

Shocking the Chicago crowd during the September 5 episode of SmackDown, AJ Lee returned to the Stamford-based promotion after almost a decade.

Lee shocked Becky Lynch with her appearance. Back to avenge The Man’s recent actions against her husband, CM Punk, she took Lynch down before holding aloft the Women’s Intercontinental Championship. As a roaring crowd approved her return, it also yielded results on the internet.

As of this writing, Cory Hays reported on X(Twitter) that:

All videos related to AJ Lee’s return have over 89.4M views in a little over 12 hours on WWE social media pages.”

Her charisma, popularity, and stardom have already yielded major results for the company and are expected to bring in more numbers, traction, and new audiences.

Lee is now also expected to appear on the coming episode of RAW, to build up the rumored Mixed Tag Team Match alongside The Best in the World against Seth Rollins and Becky Lynch at WrestlePalooza on September 20.

Prior To Her Return, AJ Lee Had Opened Up About Her Absence In Wrestling

Earlier this year, during her appearance at the San Diego Comic-Con, AJ Lee opened up about whether she missed the fan interactions that came with professional wrestling.

I do miss having that direct connection where I can see them every week. The really cool thing is when I do mental health keynote speeches, wrestling fans will show up at these medical conferences. ‘You guys are the most beautiful people in the world.’ It really is a family bond.”

One of the most talented stars in the industry, AEW veteran Jim Ross, had also recently shared his verdict on Lee on his Grilling JR podcast:

I’m a little bit surprised that she’s jumping back in the game, but not totally. I’m not shocked. It makes sense to me. So, I wish her well. Good girl. Pleasant. I’m all pulling for her. I hope she does a great job. It never hurts for the business to get somebody back that has been a star. We’ll see where it takes us. I’m pulling for her. Anything new and significant is a good thing for pro wrestling.”

In other news: A popular WWE announcer has shut down a rumor about him.
