The former WWE Divas Champion AJ Lee has responded after getting a very special shoutout from her husband CM Punk on AEW Dynamite.
Punk has been the talk of the wrestling world since he made his hotly anticipated return to the wrestling world on AEW Rampage in his hometown of Chicago. While soaking in the adulation of his home audience, he wasted no time in signalling his intent in AEW as he challenged Darby Allin to face him one on one at All Out.
On Wednesday, August 25th, Punk made his AEW Dynamite debut with an in-ring interview alongside Tony Schiavone. As Punk discussed some of the young names in the company that he is eager to work with such as Jungle Boy and Brian Pillman Jr., Punk left no doubt that he was looking to prove that he can still lay claim to the nickname of ‘The Best In The World’ by taking on Allin on September 5th.
As he drew his promo to a close, CM Punk added a personal message to a special someone watching from home:
“One more thing, I just wanna say hi to my beautiful wife sitting at home [blows kiss] I love you April.”
AJ Lee has since responded on social media, noting her surprise at hearing her real name on television:

AJ Lee was at one point the longest-reigning WWE Divas Champion in history with a title reign that lasted for 296 days from 2013 until the night after WrestleMania 30 in 2014. Lee was a major part of the main event scene on Raw in 2012 as she maniacally played off Punk, Daniel Bryan, and Kane against each other before accepting Daniel Bryan’s on-screen proposal for marriage. At Raw 1000 she jilted Bryan at the altar revealing she’d had an offer from another man. WWE Chairman Vince McMahon then appeared and revealed that Lee was now the General Manager of Raw where she sought to make Bryan’s life hell.
