AEW’s Jim Ross No Longer Suffering From Cancer; Shares Return Date

Jim Ross Tired of Negativity, Wants To

Jim Ross has conquered his battle with cancer.

A few years ago, in 2021, AEW announcer Jim Ross was diagnosed with skin cancer that required aggressive radiation and left him with a lingering wound. However, earlier this year, while recovering from his wound, Ross was again diagnosed with cancer.

Last month in May, the WWE Hall of Famer shared on social media about his colon cancer diagnosis and his scheduled surgery. Now, having successfully undergone surgery, Ross recently shared a positive update about his health.

Speaking on the latest episode of his Grilling JR podcast, Ross shared the wholesome news. Despite his recent battles with several health issues, the wrestling veteran is now eager to return to his announcing duties. Sharing a detailed update and a possible return date, Ross stated,

“No, just get back to work. Yeah, I’m tired of sitting at home, and I’m excited about the opportunities that await. I am feeling better. My plan is to be in Dallas for the big event [AEW All In].”

“You never know about tomorrow. The cancer’s gone, which I’m very happy to say. So you know, I’m blessed that my health has returned, and I’m feeling pretty damn good.”

He further shared a special gratitude to his All Elite Wrestling boss, Tony Khan.

“I’m very indebted to AEW for hiring me, bringing me on board, and Tony Khan has been amazingly wonderful during my illness. He supported me wholeheartedly and I really do appreciate that. That’s the way a boss should act, should do is take care of your people. And Tony Khan has certainly taken good care of me, and I plan on being reciprocal and doing my best to take care of him in my role going forward.”

While not confirmed, the 73-year-old hopes to be back in the mix by the July 12th weekend in Arlington, Texas, for the All In PPV.

Jim Ross Reveals Heartfelt Conversation With WWE Hall Of Famer Ahead Of His Cancer Surgery

Last month, during an episode of Grilling JR, Jim Ross opened up on a heartfelt conversation he had with Stone Cold Steve Austin before his surgery.

“I was sitting there in the hospital—no, but I was at home. I was at home, and I got a call from Steve Austin. And when we got off the phone, I looked at my phone and we’d talked for 43 minutes. Forty-three minutes. And here’s what your friends do: they call you, they talk to you, and at the end of the conversation, they tell you they love you. And that’s what Steve did.

So, that’s what I got. And that cheered me up and made me feel strong and vibrant. And he said, ‘You’re going to beat this and everything’s going to be just fine. Just ride it out. Tough it out.’ I said, ‘Oh, I’m going to—I’m going to, you know, I’m going to put my uniform on and go play and give the doctor and the nurses everything they want and hopefully they’re going to do a good job.’”

In other news: A WWE Hall of Famer is not in favor of the negative John Cena wrestling chants.
