AEW's Chris Jericho Once Confronted Brock Lesnar For Being Unsafe In The Ring With WWE Megastar

Former WWE Star Chris Jericho is a veteran of the wrestling industry. Despite being currently signed to AEW, he is known for his contributions in the ring and backstage in WWE.

Brock Lesnar returned to WWE at SummerSlam 2025 after nearly two years away, but that wasn’t willingly. He was named in the lawsuit against Vince McMahon, which saw him stepping down from his role as Chairman. Many are aware of Brock Lesnar being pushed to the level of popularity under Mr. McMahon’s tutelage in his WWE career.

Many thought Lesnar would never be seen in a WWE arena until The Biggest Party of the Summer proved otherwise. His comeback was met with mixed reactions from fans and the wrestling locker room alike.

Chris Jericho’s Backstage Confrontation With Brock Lesnar In WWE Took An Intense Turn

Now, it’s not uncommon for wrestlers to get into backstage altercations stemming from uncalled spots in matches, real-life fights, and much more. Tempers flare in the locker room. At times, they remain shushed and are prevented from getting out in the limelight; sometimes, the stars involved refuse to keep things on the down low.

A Chris Jericho interview with The Pain Game from 2023 resurfaced on social media, where he discusses a backstage incident with Brock Lesnar. It happened after The Beast’s match with Randy Orton at SummerSlam 2016. Jericho was irate that Lesnar was taking liberties in the ring, hitting Orton with elbows to the temple, and confronted him backstage.

“He was hitting him (Randy Orton) with the elbows. I was just like if this is real, it’s bullsh*t, if it’s being called, it’s still bullsh*t. He’s taking liberties and it pissed me off and I was in Gorilla and I was f*cking angry about it and Brock came through and he saw me angry about it and decided he wanted to come challenge me. And we got into a little bit of an issue and I was like f*ck this guy I don’t give a sh*t how big he is, like I don’t f*cking care, it’s f*cking wrong and I will fight to the death if I will stand up for what I believe in, to the death and I remember being like literally nose to nose with the guy and he’s laughing and he’s like you know he was actually saying things that would probably get him cancelled.” (00:01 – 00: 36)

Jericho refused to back down despite Lesnar laughing it off as nothing and calling him things the AEW star would not repeat. He added that Triple H and Vince McMahon got involved to break things up before it escalated further:

“It got broken. Triple H tried to break it up. We both told him to f*ck off, which was hilarious, and then Vince got involved, and that, that’s kind of he got involved and basically you know broke it up and told me that he had told Brock to do that.” (1:31 – 1:42)

Chris Jericho had multiple runs with WWE in his 26-year association with the company. The final one ended in 2018, a year after which he signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He has been credited with the Money in the Bank concept in WWE and many more accolades and ideations.
