AEW’s Chris Jericho Makes Shock Appearance At GCW Show; Attacks Multiple Stars

Chris Jericho in the ring on AEW Dynamite

Despite recent issues between the two promotions, AEW star Chris Jericho made a surprise appearance at GCW Highest in the Room 3.

At the event, Matt Cardona faced indie star EFFY in a singles match. The bout was thrown into chaos when Jericho, disguised with a hooded top, jumped into the ring and attacked Cardona with a baseball bat. allowing EFFY to get the win. However, after revealing himself, Jericho took out EFFY with the bat too.

Jericho then took off his hooded top to show an AEW t-shirt, before continuing to assault Cardona and EFFY. Having made his point, The Learning Tree left the arena to a chorus of boos from GCW fans.

The attack came only days before Chris Jericho will defend the ROH World Title against Matt Cardona at Final Battle in the famed Hammerstein Ballroom. That in itself has caused friction between the promotions, with GCW holding its own event in the same venue less than a month later.

The issue was one of many between the two promotions in recent weeks, with things kicking off after Ricky Starks was pulled from multiple upcoming GCW shows, seemingly because of comments EFFY made about Tony Khan.

Soon after Starks being pulled, AEW contracted star Willie Mack was removed from a planned GCW appearance, although there are conflicting reports on who decided for him to cancel.

Jim Ross Believes Chris Jericho Would Be Great Booker

With his GCW appearance being the star’s latest way of keeping his feuds in the spotlight, Jim Ross has no doubt Chris Jericho would be a great booker. Ross also claimed Jericho was the MVP of All Elite Wrestling because of his staying power and the way he’s built his brand over the years.
