The final of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament is now set following AEW Dynamite with Bryan Danielson finding out who he will face at Full Gear.
The semi-final of the AEW World Title Eliminator to take place on AEW Dynamite was set to be between Orange Cassidy and former AEW World Champion Jon Moxley. On Wednesday morning, however, AEW President Tony Khan broke the news that Mox had decided to enter an inpatient alcohol treatment program and will return to AEW at a later date.
This left Orange Cassidy without an opponent for AEW Dynamite until it was revealed that former TNT Champion Miro was taking Moxley’s place in the tournament. Miro was selected by virtue of being the highest-ranked male contender not already in the tournament – The Redeemer is ranked third while his opponent Orange Cassidy is currently the number two ranked male star.
The main event on AEW Dynamite saw Miro take on Orange Cassidy with Bryan Danielson providing commentary on the bout. In a closely fought match, Miro was able to gain the upper hand and lock Cassidy in his Game Over submission forcing the freshly squeezed one to tap out.
Afterward, Danielson entered the ring and confronted Miro before offering his hand as a show of respect. Miro retreated from the former WWE Champion as Dynamite went off the air.
The two men have only met in one-on-one action once before in their former WWE lives as Daniel Bryan and Rusev. On SmackDown in May 2018 The Bulgarian Brute defeated Danielson to qualify for that year’s Money In The Bank ladder match.
The winner of the AEW World Title Eliminator Tournament can expect a future AEW World Title shot against either current champion Kenny Omega or his Full Gear challenger, Hangman Adam Page.
