AEW World Tag Team Title Match Announced For First Ever Dynamite On TBS

Lucha Brothers

AEW World Tag Team Champions the Lucha Bros will be in action on the first ever AEW Dynamite to be shown on TBS with their titles on the line.

The December 29th episode of AEW Dynamite kicked off with a huge 10-man tag team match featuring the Lucha Bros, Jurassic Express and Christian Cage taking on FTR, Matt Hardy and Private Party.

The match was a typically chaotic affair with body’s flying left and right and the Lucha Bros taking to sky more than once. As the bout began to break down, Penta looked to be closing in on the win, setting up the Fear Factor on Cash Wheeler. However, Christian Cage got a blind tag, much to the annoyance of Penta. This left the door open for FTR to land the Big Rig on Cage to grab the win.

After the match, Cage and Jurassic Express confronted the Lucha Bros backstage and challenged them to a match for the AEW Tag Team Titles on the January 5th episode of Dynamite. Penta and Fenix accepted, but not before aiming a dig at Jungle Boy, saying that if he wants to be the future of AEW he needs to get away from the past, Christian Cage.

A packed episode of Dynamite also saw the shock return to AEW of former NXT Superstar Mercedes Martinez.

With Jade Cargill and Thunder Rosa going to war in the semi-finals of the TBS Championship Tournament the match hung on a knife edge. Cargill had used her power early on to take control but Rosa’s never-say-die attitude kept her in contention, and left her within arms length of victory.

However, no one inside Daily’s Place could have seen what would happen next. With Mark Sterling distracting the referee and Cargill gathering herself in the ring, a hooded figure rushed to ringside attacking Thunder Rosa. The shock assault meant that Cargill was able to grab the win.

The masked assailant later revealed herself to be Martinez.
