The two combatants in the AEW World Championship match at Dynamite Grand Grand Slam have been decided.
The AEW World Championship won’t be vacant for much longer after Jon Moxley and Bryan Danielson earned their shot at the gold.
The September 14th edition of AEW Dynamite opened with the tournament semi-final match between Jon Moxley and Sammy Guevara. In a true clash of styles Moxley attempted to ground the Spanish God, while Guevara did his best to use his speed advantage to score the win.
The former TNT Champion believed he had scored the win following interference from Tay Melo and Anna Jay which saw Melo deliver a vicious low blow to Moxley. However, the former World Champion fought back, earning the victory with the Death Ryder.
After the match MJF came to the ring to address Moxley after the pair traded verbal shots the previous week. In the process the star introduced the world to The Firm.
In the main event, Bryan Danielson and Chris Jericho went toe-to-toe in an eye-wateringly physical contest. Despite Danielson’s reputation as an impressive striker, Jericho refused to take a backward step and met fire with fire.
The match appeared to turn late on as Danielson was thrown to the outside and appeared to land awkwardly on his ankle. This led Jericho to attack in the injured wheel, locking in a Figure Four Leglock around the ring post. The assault on the ankle continued inside the ring but Danielson battled back, forcing Jericho to tap out with the LeBelle Lock.
After the match Moxley came to the ring to confront Danielson and the pair shook hands.
