Hikaru Shida will defend her AEW Women’s World Title against Britt Baker at AEW Double or Nothing on May 30th.

Baker has steadily risen up the rankings in recent weeks and months and now finds herself occupying the number one spot. Baker finally topped the rankings after Tay Conti was unsuccessful in her attempt to dethrone the champion on the April 21st edition of AEW Dynamite.

The new Number One Contender hasn’t tasted defeat in an official singles match since February. While Baker was defeated by Thunder Rosa in their Lights Out Match in March, the contest was ‘Unsanctioned’ by AEW.

Meanwhile, Hikaru Shida has held the AEW Women’s World Title for almost a year, after winning the belt at the 2020 edition of Double or Nothing.

It has also been announced that Kenny Omega will defend his AEW World Championship at the May spectacular. Omega will face either PAC or Orange Cassidy at the event. It was revealed at AEW Dynamite Blood and Guts that PAC and Cassidy will clash for the right to face Omega on the May 12th episode of Dynamite.

While PAC has taken Omega to the limit on more than one occasion in the past, Cassidy is yet to test his mettle against the champion.

Kenny Omega recently became a triple world champion, defeating Rich Swann to claim IMPACT’s top prize. The win means that Omega now holds three different world championship’s simultaneously, with the AEW Champion also in possession of the AAA Mega Championship.
