AEW have confirmed that the AEW Women’s World Championship will be on the line on next week’s episode of Dynamite! Reigning champion Hikaru Shida will defend the title against Big Swole on the anniversary episode of the show, as it celebrates one year of television.
Interestingly, Shida lost a match at the first-ever All Out to inaugural AEW Women’s World Champion Riho to compete for the title on the first-ever episode of Dynamite. One year, later, Shida defends the title. Hikaru Shida has held the title since May 23rd, having defeated Nyla Rose in a No Disqualification, No Count-out match at Double or Nothing. Shida has since defended the title successfully against an array of challengers, including NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa.
Meanwhile, Big Swole has been on a tear of her own in AEW of late, most notably impressively defeating Britt Baker in a Tooth & Nail Match at All Out at Baker’s own dental surgery.
