AEW have listened to the fans and will not be repeating the same events of 2023 that were heavily criticised.
Expanding its lineup last year, the biggest inclusion to the calendar was the inaugural All In show that took place inside Wembley Stadium in London over August Bank Holiday weekend. While the show was a success and well-received by fans in the UK, fans in Chicago were not happy for a number of reasons.
One week later, the All Out pay-per-view aired live from The Windy City and carried on the tradition of hosting the event over Labour Day weekend. Traditionally one of the big 4 PPVs on the AEW calendar, fans felt short-changed when they saw the line-up of the show compared to what took place 7 days prior inside Wembley Stadium as the return to the United States lacked in star power and high-stakes matches.
Along with this, the firing of CM Punk following the All In altercation meant that fans in Chicago were unable to see their hometown hero at the event, which would have been a driving factor in ticket sales at that time. Not wanting to have a repeat of fan complaints, a change has been made that will be officially announced soon.
As reported by Fightful Select, AEW is set to announce “imminently” that All Out will still take place in Chicago but will now take place one week later on Saturday, September 7th instead of Sunday, September 1st. It is also stated that fan concerns over the two shows being so close together is the main factor behind this and the PPV will also air just before the 2024 NFL season kicks off.
Shortly after the report was published, All Elite Wrestling made the news official.
In a new interview, Tony Khan explained his decision to move the date.
AEW Star To Miss All In
As All In and All Out draw closer, the promotion will be hoping that injuries will be as limited as possible so that they can put on the best show possible in the summer. Unfortunately, due to injuries sustained at a NJPW event, Eddie Kingston will miss both AEW pay-per-views and will be out for an extended period of time.
