AEW Title Change Expected Soon; Will Result In Historic Moment At Revolution

New champions are expected to be crowned on AEW TV soon, which will heavily factor into plans for the Revolution pay-per-view.

While most of the card for the next pay-per-view is yet to be confirmed, the main reason why the event has sold so well is because this will be the location for Sting’s final match. As has been seen on previous episodes of Dynamite, The Icon’s last match will see him team up with Darby Allin to face off against The Young Bucks.

It was previously reported that Sting personally asking for The Bucks to be his opponent at the March pay-per-view affected creative plans as The Jackson brothers were not scheduled to return until much later. In a new update, there will be more than pride at stake inside The Greensboro Coliseum.

As reported in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the current direction looks to see Tag Team Championships involved. With Sting highly likely to be the final match on the Revolution card, this will be the first time that the tag titles have been featured in the main event of an AEW PPV:

Sting, at 64, handpicked the Young Bucks as his opponents for he and Darby Allin, and based on televison this week, it would appear that the AEW tag team titles will end up part of the storyline. While not official, it should become the first AEW PPV show where the tag team titles were in the main event.

Apart from the World Championship, other title matches that have headlined major shows have included International Champion Orange Cassidy losing the title to Jon Moxley at All Out and Christian Cage defending the TNT Title against Darby Allin at WrestleDream.

Could A Major Debut Take Place At AEW Revolution?

With a new World Champion and an updated presentation, All Elite Wrestling appears to be entering a new era in 2024. After finishing up his NJPW commitments in February, Will Ospreay has confirmed that he will be joining the company in the lead-up to Revolution. However, following the news that Kazuchika Okada is also set to exit NJPW, there is now a chance that The Rainmaker could also be present at the event.
