AEW TBS Champion Mercedes Mone Has Revealed Her “Purpose” In Wrestling

Mercedes Mone Champions WWE Star As One Of The All-Time Greats:

Mercedes Mone has opened up on her purpose in pro wrestling.

With over a decade’s experience in pro wrestling, Mercedes Mone aka Sasha Banks has wrestled all over the world. From wrestling in the big leagues like WWE and AEW to even showcasing her talent on the indie circuit, Mone has done it all.

After parting ways with WWE in 2022, Mone made her AEW debut earlier this year at Dynamite: Big Business in March. Since then, she has won the TBS Championship and the NJPW Strong Women’s Championship. During an interview with Raj Prashad of Uproxx Sports, Mone discussed her goals and purpose in wrestling.

(I knew) where I wanted to be and what I want to leave in professional wrestling, to take this women’s division to whole new heights all over the world. I wanted to have more for women’s wrestling, so I knew going to AEW was the place to be to make that happen. I feel like the women’s division has really changed the game. The women’s division has been the best it’s ever been. The women’s storylines are headlining AEW pay-per-views.

So it’s just been amazing to come this far and I’m really excited for more. I was born to be the best. I was born to have this purpose of leading a charge of making sure that women’s wrestling is known and respected and it deserves the respect that it’s given. So just leaning on the standard that I put for myself, I’m here to be the best, to show the world that I’m the best, and I’m here to bring the women along with me. So that’s the goal.”

Looking to grow women’s wrestling, Mone has had a huge hand in doing so. She has often been vocal about the growth of women in pro-wrestling.

She is a part of the talented women’s roster in AEW and has also been a part of the all-women’s WWE PPV Evolution, from a few years ago. The CEO now wants an all-women wrestling show for Tony Khan’s promotion.

Mercedes Mone Wants Women Exclusive Weekly Show

During her appearance on the Battleground podcast, Mercedes Mone opened up on the possibility of hosting an exclusive women’s weekly AEW show. She commented:

Wow, a weekly show, absolutely. We have the talent, so why not? All Elite Women’s Wrestling? There you go. We have the best women’s wrestling. From Willow, Mariah May, Toni Storm, Serena Deeb, Kris Statlander, Kamille—there’s definitely an opportunity to have an all-women’s show every single week, so I don’t see why not.”
