The stars of AEW were fighting more than each other when they were in Pittsburgh, with some on the roster taking the fight to food insecurity at a local food bank.
AEW was in Pittsburgh earlier in August as they held AEW Dynamite and the premiere episode of AEW Rampage from the Petersen Events Center. The inaugural episode of AEW Rampage saw Christian Cage defeat Kenny Omega for the IMPACT Wrestling World Championship in what could be a sign of things to come as the two men will meet again for the AEW World Title at All Out.
The fans in Pittsburgh though were there to see their hometown hero Dr. Britt Baker DMD defend her AEW Women’s World Championship against Red Velvet. Baker received a thunderous ovation from the ‘Brittsburgh’ crowd as she retained her title. After the match, Baker continued the assault on Velvet before being stopped by her own All Out challenger, Kris Statlander. Baker had an ace up her sleeve however as Jamie Hayter made her return to the company to come to Baker’s aid.
WTAE-TV Pittsburgh has shared footage of some of the company’s stars helping out at a local food bank during their time in the Steel City. Stars such as Paul Wight, Mark Henry, Ricky Starks, and Thunder Rosa were among the many members of the AEW roster and staff helping to feed those in need.
All Elite Wrestling has kept charity and community in mind since the company’s inception in 2019. Their annual Fight For The Fallen shows has raised money for various charities, with the first edition of the event in 2019 raising money for victims of gun violence. In 2020 over $150,000 was raised by the show’s sponsor Farah & Farah for the Jacksonville Victim Assistance Advisory Council.
The 2021 edition of Fight For The Fallen was held in Charlotte, North Carolina and for that event, the company partnered with Safe Alliance – a charity that helps survivors of domestic and sexual assault.
